Description
David Klamen’s two canvases contain images of old
master paintings that are obscured with geometric
stripes that alternately compress and expand in
undulating patterns. The effect is one of an image that
has been pushed, pulled and splintered as if by digital
means. The underlying images are of Rembrandt’s Night
Watch, painted in 1642, which depicts military volunteers
securing their community, and Carpaccio’s St. George
and the Dragon, painted in 1507, which portrays a heroic
